Artist Statement

Process is central to my work. The act of pouring different liquids such as oil, linseed and engine oil on paper, wood, floor is a daily activity in my studio. The pure randomness of this activity leads to some surprising results which I capture as though I am the predator, some of which continues over weeks. With mechanical production removed and with a pure act of doing, these liquids develop and form on the different papers, absorbing or even disappearing rotting within their own existence. As predator, I decide which will find their own material language. These works sit neither inabstractionor figurative but hover somewhere within the matereial and liquid itself. The simple act of gluing, cutting, layering the single elelments together continues beyound the classic format of square and retangle
